Salvation, simply put, means that you have been rescued. The bible tells us that there is a definite heaven, but also a definite hell. And for those who choose not to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, their destiny is hell with no hope of rescue.
Outlined below is the Roman Road, a pathway through the book of Romans in the bible, which outlines with amazing clarity how you can be rescued.
THE ROMANS ROAD
The Bible says “There is no one righteous, not even one” (Romans 3:10).
What does this mean? It means that none of us are good enough to get into heaven on our own! We have all done wrong!
The Bible says “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
Compared to Jesus, we don’t measure up. Our lives have been marred by sin (wrong/bad).
The Bible says “For the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23a).
Wow, you may be saying if we have all sinned, what’s the use in trying? This is what is so wonderful. The verse does not stop there. It goes on to say,
“But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23b).
God has a gift for you! It is eternal life! How long is eternal life? It is forever! Anybody here want to live forever?
The Bible talks a lot about love! Scripture says, “But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).”
Since we are not righteous, there had to be a sacrifice for the wrong that we committed. That's where Jesus comes in. God sent Him (Jesus) so that we could have the opportunity to live.
The Bible also says, “If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9).”
Accepting the fact that He is God and believing that He is in control in heaven today allows you to have a relationship with the creator of the universe. Faith is simply believing in Him!
The Bible goes on to say, “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (Romans 10:13).”
What is keeping you from calling on Him today?
